Subacute clinical history of frontal headaches that has evolved with a forehead lump.
Patient Data
There is soft tissue obliteration of the anterior ethmoid cells and both frontal paranasal sinuses, with a focal bone defect of the anterior wall of the right frontal sinus that communicates with a soft tissue/subgaleal mass. This mass has a hyperdense rim and low central attenuation. The brain is unremarkable.
Case Discussion
This patient has been further managed with surgical drainage a frontal region abscess. MRI (not shown) did not show signs of intracranial complications such as subdural empyema.
Pott puffy tumor refers to a non-neoplastic complication of acute sinusitis characterized by a primarily subgaleal collection, also subperiosteal abscess and osteomyelitis.
