Presentation

History of Fontan procedure. Evaluate for cardiac cirrhosis.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

There is shunt tubing in a collection in the right upper quadrant. The patient has a history of ventriculogallbladder shunt placement.

x-ray

Ventricular shunt coiled in the right upper quadrant, compatible with the patient's known VG shunt. Multiple other discontinued shunts identified, including a ventriculoatrial shunt.

Case Discussion

A ventriculogallbladder shunt is a very uncommon route of CSF diversion, used when a ventriculoperitoneal shunt cannot be used for whatever reason.
