Presentation

Recent anterior dislocation in rugby player.

Patient Data

Age: 20
Gender: Male
mri

Detachment of the anteroinferior labrum (3-6 o'clock) with complete tearing of the anterior scapular periosteum. There is a posterolateral depression of the humeral head referable to a Hill Sachs lesion with bone marrow edema. There is a moderate joint effusion. The rotator cuff tendons and the biceps tendons are normal.

Case Discussion

In Bankart lesions, there is detachment of the anteroinferior labrum (3-6 o'clock) with complete tearing of the anterior scapular periosteum (so-called fibrous Bankart lesion) if associated with bone detachment, it is called a bony Bankart lesion.
