What are some of the causes of nasal perforation?
Trauma (surgical, repeated cautery, digital trauma (nose picking)); malignant disease; chronic inflammatory conditions (Wegener's granulomatosis, syphilis, tuberculosis); poisons (industrial, cocaine related injury, topical corticosteroids, topical decongestants).
Axial CT demonstrates the nasal septum to be almost entirely absent. The mucosa is thickened and nodular.
