Incidentally-discovered off midline nasopharyngeal high T2/T1 signal Thornwaldt cyst measuring 11 x 9 mm.
Case Discussion
Thornwaldt cyst is a benign cystic lesion usually less than 1 cm in size and located in the midline of the upper posterior nasopharynx. It is a relatively rare lesion that is usually asymptomatic. If bigger in size they can cause posterior nasal obstruction and may obstruct the Eustachian tube. They usually display high signal on both T1- and T2- weighted sequences and this is attributed to a high protein content and/or blood products from prior hemorrhage.
