Gross deformity of the ankle joint with dense subchondral sclerosis.
The joint space is obilterated and there is collapse of the talar dome. Resultant subluxation.
Small loose bodies.
Disuse osteopenia of the metatarsals.
Case Discussion
A typical example a severe form of Charcot joint. The ankle is one of the commonest sites.
Although a wide number of causes can be responsible diabetes is now the commonest cause, the end result of chronic diabetic neuropathy.
