Presentation
Twisting injury during a game of badminton
Patient Data
Moderate suprapatellar effusion. Extensive bony contusion of lateral femoral condyle subarticular region with microfracture. Horizontal oblique tear of anterior root of lateral meniscus. Grade 2 degenerate posterior horn of medial meniscus. Near total disruption of mid portion of anterior cruciate ligament. Small simple Baker cyst. Mild edema of deep fibers of medial collateral ligament.
Normal lateral collateral ligament, patellar retinacula, posterior cruciate ligament, patellar and quadriceps tendon and posterolateral corner structures.
Case Discussion
Loss of normal alignment of anterior cruciate ligament to Blumensaat line with fluid signal intensity replacing the normal course of the ligament is a good indicator of fiber disruption. As in this case, the torn ligament may be seen to lie in the floor of the intercondylar notch.
