Prepatellar bursitis

Normal alignment of the knee joints, with preservation of the joint space. No joint effusion. No fracture or osseous lesion is seen. Marked prepatellar soft tissue swelling in the left knee in keeping with prepatellar bursitis.
Case Discussion
Prepatellar bursitis is usually secondary to excessive kneeling, but has multiple other less common causes which include:
- trauma
- rheumatoid arthritis
- gout
- infection
