Presentation
Few days before the presentation, the patient had a sudden onset of right calf pain while playing cricket. There was echhymosis on examination.
Patient Data
There is a fluid collection at the myotendinous junction of the medial head of gastrocnemius. Adjacent muscle fibers show loss normal echopattern. Fluid measures about - 70 x 35 x 4 mm.
The soleus muscle is normal. The plantaris is intact. The Achilles tendon is intact. There was no ruptured Baker's cyst.
Case Discussion
An adult male presented with a history of sudden onset of pain while playing cricket. Ultrasound revealed tennis leg due to myotendinous junction tear involving the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle. Th plantaris tendon is intact. The plantaris tendon tear is a less common cause of tennis leg.
