What are the non-articular complications of knee dislocation?
Damage to the popliteal vessels and common peroneal nerve.
What is the commonest type of knee dislocation?
Anterior dislocation is the commonest type (about 40%).
There is evidence of anteromedial displacement of the tibia in relation to the femur, associated with attenuated joint spaces more appreciated along the medial tibiofemoral compartment.
There are old fractures of the lateral and posterior aspects of the tibia, associated with peri-articular heterotopic ossification which is seen more in relation to the medial femoral condyle.
