Smith fracture

There are fractures of the left distal radius with significant shortening and volar angulation of the distal fracture fragments associated with edema and swelling of the overlying soft tissues.
Degenerative changes as subchondral sclerosis and cystic changes are seen at the wrist bones proximal and distal rows.
Diastasis also is seen at distal radioulnar joint.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates a Smith (a.k.a. reverse Barton's) fracture, with volar angulation. Smith fractures tend to be more unstable than Colles fractures.
