Presentation
Persistent pain of the right hand.
Patient Data
There is a localized osteolytic lesion with endosteal scalloping within the proximal diaphysis of the 3rd metacarpal bone.
The previously described lesion appears well-circumscribed with lobulated margins and mild endosteal scalloping, measuring 1.5 cm in length. It shows a low signal intensity on T1WI, very high signal intensity on T2WI with peripheral enhancement on postcontrast sequences. No cortical breach or extension to the adjacent soft tissues is seen.
Case Discussion
Radiographic and MRI features suggestive of a metacarpal enchondroma.
The main differential diagnosis is low-grade chondrosarcoma. See enchondroma vs. low-grade chondrosarcoma.
