Ulnar impaction syndrome

Presentation

Left wrist pain.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male
mri

There is positive ulnar variance with PD fs hyperintensity within the ulnar aspect of the lunate bone, minor cortical irregularity, and small subchondral cyst formation.

Small subchondral cyst also is seen within the capitate.

There is also tearing at the peripheral portion of the TFCC near its ulnar attachment associated with the fluid signal at the distal radioulnar joint. 

Abnormal intrasubstance increased fluid signal is noted at the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon related to split tearing at the level of the radiocarpal joint.

Case Discussion

Findings are consistent with ulnar impaction syndrome.
