Synchronous colonic diverticulitis - hepatic flexure and sigmoid colon
Presentation
Suspected diverticulitis.
Patient Data
Numerous diverticula along the entire colon. Several cm of thickened wall in proximal segment of sigmoid colon with pronounced surrounding fat stranding and thickened lateroconal fascia. Milder fat stranding around the hepatic flexure.
Sternotomy wires.
Numerous pulmonary nodules in lung bases, many of them calcified, unchanged for several years - probably hamartomas and/or granulomas.
9 mm cyst in hepatic segment 2.
Gallbladder removed.
Left adrenal nodule 19 mm across, its density 16 HU - most probably an adenoma.
Small angiomyolipoma (AML) in right kidney, tiny AML in left kidney.
Very mild mesenteric fat stranding.
Small calcified uterine leiomyoma.
Case Discussion
A rare case of colonic diverticulitis afflicting both the hepatic flexure and the proximal sigmoid colon at the same time.
