MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION: Sections show a cellular tumor composed of relatively uniform cells with rounded nuclei and a fine chromatin pattern. There is perivascular pseudorosetting and a fine papillary matrix is present in some areas showing ill-defined rosette-like areas. There is no necrosis and there is no endothelial vascular proliferation. There is no calcification. Mitoses are scant. There is a strong synaptophysin staining.
