Thickened and hyperenhancing synovium with associated joint effusion. Small area of medial femoral condyle bone edema.
Case Discussion
Appearances of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Findings in this case are gross and most pediatricians with an interest in rheumatology would make a clinical diagnosis.
This case highlights the importance that contrast administration has - without contrast, it is difficult, if not impossible, to separate the fluid from synovium on the fluid-sensitive, fat-supressed sequences.
