Presentation
Presented with a history of incision and drainage for left breast abscess about 18 months back. Complaining of recurrent discharge from the breast incision site.
Patient Data
There is a short hypoechoic track from the skin. Air is present in this track. The track leads to a mass lesion which shows acoustic shadowing. There is a well-defined hypoechoic wall anterior to the shadow.
Case Discussion
A female had undergone I&D for left breast abscess about 18 months back. Histopathology was neuropathic granulomatous mastitis. She developed recurrent episodes of discharge from the wound site. Ultrasound findings with clinical background favor the possibility of gossypiboma. The surgical sponge was removed through the track at the surgical site.
