Non-compaction of the left ventricle

Presentation

The patient had progressive heart failure. Examination was done prior to contemplated heart transplantation.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male

Non-compacted layer of the left ventricular myocardium is demonstrated. There are marked trabeculations and deep intertrabecular recesses within the non-compacted layer. The non-compacted-to-compacted (NC/C) myocardial ratio is greater than 2.3.

LV EDV/BSA 72ml/m2

LV EF 45%
