Multiple large ileocolic lymph nodes noted in the right lower quadrant, with associated surrounding mesenteric inflammatory stranding. The appendix is normal.
Case Discussion
Mesenteric adenitis is a self-limiting infection (mostly viral) involving the mesenteric lymph nodes in the right lower quadrant. Patients present similarly to appendicitis with RLQ pain, increased WBC and fever.
