Pleomorphic adenoma - parotid gland

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Painless swelling of the right parotid region.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Well defined lobulated mass in the superficial lobe of the right parotid gland of isosignal to the muscles on T1WI, high signal intensity on T2WI with hypointense peripheral fibrous capsule and restricted diffusion on DWI/ADC. The postcontrast dynamic T1 fat sat sequence shows a progressive and heterogeneous enhancement.

 The ADC within the mass was 2.29 x normal (>1.2 usually suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma). 

The left parotid gland appears normal.
