Presentation
Non-painful lumps in the medial aspect of the soles. Known Dupytren's syndrome.
Patient Data
There is a 15 x 15 x 5 mm, hypoechoic, fusiform lesion arising from the plantar fascia in the medial aspect of the arch of the right foot in keeping with a typical plantar fibroma. Minor vascularity is also detected.
Much smaller, but similar ovoid lesion was seen on the left (not shown) in identical position.
Case Discussion
Plantar fibromas are often palpable, fusiform, occasionally tender lesions attached to the plantar fascia. Typical location is the medial aspect of the arch. Can be multiple and coexistence with Dupuytren's syndrome is not rare. Vascularity (as in this case) is not the sign of malignant potential. There is a female predominance.
