Subependymal grey matter heterotopia, is the most common form of grey matter heterotopia and is characterized by nodules of grey matter located immediately beneath the ependyma of the lateral ventricles.

Differential diagnoses include:

• subependymal tubers of tuberous sclerosis
• subependymal mass (as subependymoma)
