At the site of pain, there is an asymmetric thickening of the distal ileum. There is a hypoechoic outpouching from the thickened ileal wall. A tiny air focus is present in this hypoechoic area. Surrounding mesenteric fat is echogenic and odematous. There is no local abscess formation.

Caecum and appendix were normal.
