How does one differentiate between Langerhans cell histiocytosis and lymphangioleiomyomatosis?
LAM occurs in females in of child bearing period and is associated with tuberous sclerosis. There are only cysts, but no nodules, which are uniformly distributed in the lungs.
Both lungs show multiple scattered small thin walled irregular cysts as well as small irregular shaped nodules with an upper lobe predilection and sparing the costophrenic angles.
Moderate right pneumothorax.
