What foramen has been targeted?
The right C6-C7. The transverse processes of the C7 vertebra are longer than at other cervical levels. The thoracic levels will have articulations with ribs.
How could you position the patient?
Supine with the head straight, supine with the head rotated to the contralateral side, and positioned on the side, are all used. A supine position with the head straight in a neutral position will mean the anatomy demonstrated on CT will be conventional, and it will be easier for the patient to keep the same position.
Injection of a small amount of iodinated contrast through a 25-gauge Quincke needle extends through the right C6-C7 foramen with epidural extension.
