Small glenohumeral joint effusion and the axillary pouch portion of the glenohumeral joint is thickened with surrounding edema.  Further edema in the region of the bicipital sling/rotator cuff interval.  No rotator cuff tear.  Mild distension of the subacromial-subdeltoid bursa.  Findings are suggestive of adhesive capsulitis.

Case Discussion

Adhesive capsulitis, also known as frozen shoulder, is most often a clinical diagnosis.  Patients will often lose their ability to externally rotate their shoulder and this can make imaging more challenging.  Hydrodilation can be a treatment option.
