Presentation

Known to have thalassemia with non-specific right hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years.
Gender: Female
x-ray

There is diffuse decrease in bone density due to the known disease.

Increased femoral neck-shaft angles are seen, however with no evidence of fracture.

Loss of height of multiple lumbar vertebrae is also seen.

Soft tissue calcification is seen in the right gluteal region mostly due to old IM injection.

Case Discussion

This is 25 year old lady complaining of non-specific right hip pain, known to have thalassemia major. After undergoing x-ray of the pelvis, demonstrated diffuse osteoporosis.
