Presentation

Motor vehicle accident with arrest at the scene.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Brain non contrast

ct

Diffuse cerebral edema and effacement of the grey-white matter. Early reversal sign (density of cerebellum is greater than cerebral hemispheres) and pseudosubarachnoid hemorrhage. No intracranial hemorrhage. No cerebral herniation. No skull fractures. 

Case Discussion

The brain imaging was part of the full trauma scan (not shown). Prolonged arrest at the scene was the likely cause of these findings. Brain death was later confirmed clinically.
