Presentation
Chronic headaches
Patient Data
Selected CT images showing a large predominately solid intraventricular mass with cystic components and calcification, centered in the body of right lateral ventricle and causing obstructive hydrocephalus.
Selected MRI images demonstrating large mixed cystic and solid partially calcified mass centered in the right lateral ventricle, contacting the septum pellucidum, and extending slightly into the left lateral ventricle. There is secondary dilatation of the ventricles, without periventricular edema, suggesting chronic hydrocephalus.
Postoperative changes of right frontal approach with intraventricular tumor excision with an epidural hematoma dorsal to the craniotomy site.
Case Discussion
Classic MRI and CT findings of central neurocytoma, which was histologically proven. In this case, we notice a dilatation of both lateral ventricles, but with no transependymal CSF permeation, which indicates chronic hydrocephalus and slow-growing mass.
