The femoral epiphysis is smaller on the left and there is an underdeveloped, shallow left acetabulum.
The femoral head is laterally decentred and is almost certainly fully dislocated. The cartilage of the femoral head is not visible on the x-ray and therefore, the apparent size of the head is underestimated meaning that in some cases like this, the medial cartilaginous femoral head is within the joint.
Features are of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).
