ct

There is an expansile lytic lesion of C2 vertebral body with homogeneous matrix, thinning, and destruction of the cortex. No surrounding sclerotic reaction. Partial encasement of the vertebral artery.

mri

On MRI sequences the previously described expansile lytic lesion elicits an isointense signal on T1/T2, moderately high signal on STIR with relatively homogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences. No prevertebral or epidural soft tissue component or abnormal enhancement is seen. Normal appearance of the other cervical vertebral bodies and spinal cord.

Case Discussion

MRI appearance of a solitary expansile lytic lesion of the C2 vertebral body with thinning and destruction of the cortex and with no associated soft tissue component, corresponding probably to a solitary bone plasmacytoma.
