Dislocated right hip hemiarthroplasty with upward migration femur prosthesis into the gluteus muscles
Small bony fragments are seen between the femur diaphysis and acetabulum.
Total hip arthroplasty on the left side appears normal.
Case Discussion
Dislocation of hip joint replacements is not uncommon, occurring in 3-4% of patients. Hip joint dislocation not only causes pain and distress to patients but repeated dislocations can damage the prosthesis resulting in further instability.
