Posttraumatic swelling and tenderness at the right hand over the 5th metacarpal.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Displayed fracture through the base of the 5th metacarpal. The radius, ulna, and other metacarpals are intact.

 

Case Discussion

Radiographic features of a transverse fracture through the base of the 5th metacarpal with a lateral translation which can be seen clearly in both projections. No associated injury of the radius, elbow, or other hand bones.
