Circumferential thickening of the colon from the splenic flexure down to the rectosigmoid is noted. There is no convincing intramural or portal venous gas, and no evidence of perforation.
The aorta and its branches demonstrate moderate atherosclerotic disease. The inferior mesenteric artery is opacified by contrast only for the first centimetre or so whereupon it reduces in calibre.
Features are consistent with inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) ischaemic colitis.
