Late subacute subdural hemorrhage

Presentation

Head trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Subdural collection along the left cerebral hemisphere with maximum thickness of 9 mm.

Signal: T1: High, T2: High with some diffusion restriction. 

Mass effect is noted over the left cerebral hemisphere with midline shift of about 5 mm toward the right side.
Effacement of left lateral ventricle and slight prominence of right lateral ventricle is noted.
No intra parenchymal hematoma is noted.

 

Note is made for incidental finding of right frontal subcutaneous lipoma lateral to right orbit.

Case Discussion

At late subacute (7 to 14-28 days) the extracellular methemoglobin leads to increase T2 signal.
