Presentation
Rapid growing swelling of the left anterior chest wall (? chest wall tumor or breast mass).
Patient Data
There is a relatively well-circumscribed heterogeneously enhancing lobulated soft tissue mass of the left breast with central necrosis measuring (9.5 x 9 x 5.5 cm), with skin thickening, infiltration the pectoral muscle and ipsilateral enlarged axillary lymph nodes.
No lung metastasis was seen on the lung window (not shown).
Otherwise normal appearance of the abdominal and pelvic organs.
No bony lesion was seen on the bone window (not shown).
Case Discussion
The patient undewent surgical excision of the tumor with histopathological exam which confirmed the diagnosis of a malignant phyllodes tumor.
Phyllodes tumor, also called cystosarcoma phyllodes is a rare fibroepithelial tumor of the breast, and account for less than 0.3-1% of all breast neoplasms and malignant form accounts for up to a quarter of the phyllodes tumors. Predominantly seen in adult women, with very few examples reported in adolescents. It is extremely rare in adult men, only a few cases were reported 1.
