Symmetric dense metaphyseal bands
Symmetric dense metaphyseal bands are noted in the lower end of femur and upper end of tibia and fibula.
Case Discussion
Child is a known case of thalassemia. Had a bone marrow transplant recently.
Now presented with severe knee pain. A clinical diagnosis of transient synovitis was made.
Reassurance was given to the parents. The child was advised to practice sports. They were asked to come for follow up in the clinic after 3 months.
Thalassemia is one of the known causes of dense metaphyseal bands.
