Presentation

Acute left hemi-abdominal pain for four days.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

  • coffee bean sign is seen in the topogram.
  • a large gas-filled loop is identified, consistent with the sigmoid colon measuring 12 cm in diameter) lacking the normal haustra, forming a closed-loop obstruction.
  • whirl sign is present evident by twisting of the mesentery and mesenteric vessels

No discreet mass lesion. No bowel perforation. Rest of the bowel loops are normal.
