Extensive bilateral air space consolidations with anterior ground-glass opacities are noted in both lungs multiple segments.
There is air in the mediastinum surrounding the cardiomediastinal structures compatible with pneumomediastinum.
Case Discussion
The recent patient had a positive RT-PCR COVID-19 assay complicated by extensive lung involvement and pneumomediastinum. Spontaneous pneumomediastinum in cases of COVID-19 pneumonia could be due to the rupture of the alveolar membrane caused by the virus.
