Presentation
20 years old male presented with headache for two days
Patient Data
Plain CT scan shows a subtle hyperdensity in the region of the right transverse sinus
A linear hyperintensity seen in the right transverse sinus on T1W axial and Coronal FLAIR images. More clearly delineated on FLAIR images
Findings were confirmed as signal void / filling defect on MIP images of MRV
Case Discussion
Dural venous sinus thrombosis is diagnosed on CT venography and MRV but CT plain brain is the initial radiological investigation. Most of the time CT shows signs such as hyper density, hyperdense delta sign.
On this scan a subtle linear hyperdensity was seen in the region of right transverse sinus and confluence of sinuses. Immediate consultation with neuro physician led to the decision of MRI brain with MRV confirming the DVST right side, involving the right transverse sinus, straight sinus and sigmoid sinus.
