Abdominal CT scan pre and post-contrast study reveal large right renal hydatid cyst containing multiple daughter cysts and focal breaching of the hyperdense capsule with leakage of content to a dilated pelvicalyceal system and upper ureter.

Hepatic hydatid cyst is noticed with mild dilatation of the nearby biliary tree caused by the mass effect of the cyst upon the adjacent structure.

Case Discussion

This patient had a recurrent attack of flank pain and in her last visit, the ultrasound reveals dilatation of the pelvicalyceal system with high suspicion of hydatid disease and cyst rupture. The abdominal CT scan confirms this significant finding.
