A rounded mass with irregular & spiculated margin and several internal micro-calcifications is noted at upper outer quadrant of left breast which is suspicious for cancer (BI-RADS category 4c).
Case Discussion
The patient underwent ultrasound guided core needle biopsy and histopathologic evaluation confirms invasive ductal carcinoma.
A BI-RADS 4 lesion under the breast imaging-reporting and data system refers to a suspicious abnormality. BI-RADS 4 lesions may not have the characteristic morphology of breast cancer but have a definite probability of being malignant. A biopsy is recommended for these lesions.
