Attempted bifid distal phalanx of the thumb

No fracture or dislocation. Incidental well defined ovoid foramen with corticated margins in the center of the thumb distal phalanx represents attempted bifid morphology.
Case Discussion
Bifid phalanx represents a congenital abnormality where two separate phalanges develop in one digit. In this case, complete bifid development has not occurred and a small mid-phalangeal foramen remains.
