Presentation

TIA like episodes - left leg paresthesia and weakness, short episode. Carotid doppler showed no significant stenosis but high velocities.

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

CTA of carotid arteries

Tortuous ectatic appearance to both extracranial internal carotid arteries.

Appearances are consistent with fibromuscular dysplasia.

Patient presented with TIA like episodes. CT angiogram performed as part of TIA pathway. Classic appearance of FMD of carotid arteries.
