There is severe coarctation of the aorta just distal to the left subclavian artery at the level of where the ligamentum arteriosum inserts into the descending aorta. Marked enlargement of the intercostal arteries is present, receiving blood from collaterals from the subclavian arteries and supplying blood to the distal aorta.
