Anterior to the descending colon, and abutting it, is an ovoid structure with heterogeneous signal within and a thin rim of hyperintensity appreciated best on fat-suppressed images. There is also some hyperintensity within the adjacent abdominal wall. The colon itself looks normal. The appearances are consistent with epiploic appendagitis.
Physiologic hydronephrosis also noted.
