Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Both kidneys contain innumerable predominantly fat density nodules consistent with angiomyolipomas.

Pre and post contrast CT scans through the brain demonstrate numerous calcified subependymal nodules. Heterogeneity of the sub-cortical white matter is also typical of hamartomas.

Case Discussion

Tuberous sclerosis with multiple angiomyolipomas is a relatively common occurence. About 55-75% of TS cases are associated with angiomyolipomas.

This is a classical case demonstrating subependymal hamartomas and subcortical tubers, in case of multiple angiomyolipomas.
