Case Discussion

The sural nerve can be easily identified in the high lateral ankle lying in the subcutaneous tissues between the Achilles tendon and the peroneus brevis muscle belly. It is accompanied by the small saphenous vein. This was a successful diagnostic block prior to consideration of cryotherapy of this nerve due to chronic pain.
