Presentation

History of right thumb strike with aluminum bar yesterday while working, on examination: nail hematoma, swelling, and tenderness distal phalanx of the right thumb.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

No clear fracture is seen.

Incidentally, an expansile lytic lesion is seen in the distal phalanx of the right thumb in keeping with an enchondroma.

Case Discussion

Enchondromas are benign bony tumors. The treatment is tumor resection and cavity filling with bone graft.
