Presentation

Head injury from rotating fan blades.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male
ct

A lentiform extra-axial mixed density collection with maximum thickness of 40 mm in the right frontal region. The hyperdense component represents acutely clotted blood while the hypodense component represents active bleeding (swirl sign). Air locules are seen within it. There is associated mass effect on the right frontal lobe, effacement of the right lateral ventricle and significant midline shift of 13 mm to the left.

Hemorrhagic contusion is seen in the adjacent frontal lobe.

Overlying frontal bone fracture and scalp hematoma noted.
